Biography Text

Sophie was born in Woonsocket on March 6, 1929 to Paul and Constance (Coca) Nichola. Sophie first went to work during WWII while still a student at Woonsocket High School. She worked after school on the "student shift" at the Alice Mill in support of the war effort.She helped to make Navy rubber rafts. Sophie went on to work in a number of jobs over the years from sales clerk, to a telephone operator. Her last job was a clerk typist at the US Navy base in Newport.

Sophie married Roger Peloquin on May 30, 1963 at St. Ann's Church. She and Roger had one son, Donald and one daughter, Paula. 

Sophie passed on March 13, 2011.
