Lillian was born on March 2, 1915 to Wilfred and Lena (Arcand) Fontaine. She was the youngest of three children and raised on Cumberland and Elm Streets in Woonsocket. Lillian attended the St. Ann school until the 9th grade. Mid way through her 9th year she left to tend the house for her mother who had been diagnosed with breast cancer. She began working at the Glenark Mill in 1934, working as a ring spinner and twister operator.
In 1936 she married Raoul Plante and they had one son, Robert, born in December 1937. Lillian returned to the work force working at the Alsace Worsted on East School Street. She worked here until the mill closed in the early 1950's.
For many years Lillian was president of the St. Ann's Sodality at St. Theresa's church in Blackstone, MA. Lillian was an accomplished pianist.
Lillian passed away on August 18, 1963, at the age of 47.
