Ray was born on January 3, 1920 to Hypolite Archambault and Mary Louise, nee Raiche Archambault. He was the youngest of four children. The family lived in the mill houses on Lincoln Street in Woonsocket. All of the children were born in this house. Ray served in the Navy during WWII in the South Pacific. He married Frances Nardone in 1947. They had 2 daughters, Paula and Debbie. Ray worked the second shift at the Barnai Worsted Mill in the 1950s using his daytime hours and weekends building a ranch style home on Avenue B for his family. In the early 1960s, realizing that job opportunities in the textile mill industry were dwindling, Ray found work as an assembler at General Motors. While at GM he received better wages and job security. He retired at 65 and lived out his remaining days at his home in Woonsocket until he passed away in 1994.
