The turn of the century would redefine the mills in the Market Square area. In 1912, Otto Timme of The Woonsocket Falls Mill Company bought the Ballou Mill from the Rhode Island Finishing Co. and remodeled the building so that it was able to produce plushes. In 1915, the company also installed a dyeing and finishing department.
In 1919, the Woonsocket Falls Mill Company continued its expansion, demolishing Harris Mill #1, the Mowry Grist Mill, and purchasing the site of the already demolished Lyman Mill to construct a new six story weaving plant. It was a pattern that continued two years later when they purchased property on River Street to build a six-story brick addition to the weaving plant.
In 1926 The Woonsocket Falls Mill Co. built a six-story cement building on River St. to use for storage. By 1930 the entire Market Square area was occupied by operations for the Woonsocket Falls Mill Company.
