Biography Text

Frank was born to Charles and Lea Faubert of 96 Rodman Street, Woonsocket, RI on June 22, 1944. He was the fifth and last child of the family. He attended all schools in Woonsocket until he went to URI. He loved sports and was part of the East Woonsocket Little League, then went on to play CYO sports and especially liked basketball and baseball. Watching his beloved Red Sox on TV was a joy and especially in the Fall of 1966 when Carl Yastrzemski was his hero. At URI and the College of Insurance he majored in business and insurance and made insurance his lifetime career. Frank also had a second and concurrent career in the Rhode Island Air National Guard and the United States Air Force Reserve – after a 31-year career Frank retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. Frank’s unlikely summer job at the Branch River Woolcombing Company Plant was interesting because he was offered other jobs in NYC that summer but chose to be close to his girlfriend, Carolyn, rather than go to NYC to train at the College of Insurance. He ultimately enrolled at the College of Insurance for their Fall Semester. When his shift was done at the Branch River Woolcombing Company Plant that summer of 1965, he would exit the plant and be soaking wet from perspiration – of course, there was no air-conditioning in the mill and moisture, heat and tension were essential in the combing of wool fibers!!! Although, Frank had already graduated from college this summer job only stood to reinforce his good decision at attaining an education and to continue on that road. The following year, after graduating from the College of Insurance in June, he married, Carolyn Bourget on October 1, 1966 and they had two daughters Cheryl and Cathleen. After being a Field Supervisor and Manager of several large Insurance Companies, Frank decided to purchase Albert J. Vanasse’s Woonsocket Agency in 1982. He was owner and President of the Faubert Insurance Center and grew the agency until 2006 when he then merged with the Soucy Agency. Frank was an enthusiastic and competent civic leader heading the Woonsocket Kiwanis Club as President and then becoming the President of the North Smithfield Kiwanis Club for several terms. Frank served as President of the Independent Insurance Association of Rhode Island and was a member of the Chamber of Commerce and served on the boards of Landmark Medical Center and Eastland Bank. Teaching at the University of Rhode Island and being a guest lecturer were among his most enjoyable endeavors. Frank never forgot the important lesson of having worked by the sweat of his brow and always respected and admired people of all walks of life.
