In 1865, Dexter Ballou & Co. sold the Harrison Mill complex to the Lippitt Woolen Company. The Ballous & Lippitts had been associated for several years as the owners of the Social Mill.
Harrison was converted to woolen manufacture and a large brick addition was made at the back of the complex, along with a new office and warehouse at the corner of Main Street and Bernon Street. The u-shaped configuration of the buildings allowed for the seamless processing of the woolen goods from raw materials to finished goods. In 1870, the company operated 20 sets of cards, 94 broad looms and employed 300 workers.
